New Treasury

My Autumn Scented Wreath is appearing in another Treasury today.

It's called Autumn Delights - and I love these choices. Just perfect!  It was curated by QueeniesVintageFinds
a vintage shop with some very cool stuff.  Take a look!   Scroll below the treasury for a question from me.

Here's my question: I love my Autumn Scented Wreath. And apparently so do a few others: it has 985 views, 18 hearts, appeared in 8-9 treasuries, and was picked by Etsy for the front page TWICE.  I don't believe the price is out of line on Etsy.  So why do I still own it?  Just askin'...

It's baaaaaaack!!!!

Well, I couldn't think of a better game than "Let's Play Charades" - so I'm bringing it back. We'll see if there's still some interest in playing the game.  Stop back tomorrow for the new posting!

Ahhhh ... relax ...

I am sitting and relaxing for the first time in weeks.  It has been a pressure cooker of one kind or another for the past month and a half, and the condo-wide yard sale today was the last big deadline.

I think a lot of my online artist friends are in the same boat - seems everyone has been overwhelmed with responsibilities of one kind or another this summer. Of course, something inevitably falls by the wayside, in my case, this blog ... my Etsy shop ...  cleaning house ... creating new work ... and relaxing.

So ... just for now, I'm forgetting about the totally trashed studio, the boxes of unsold yard sale items, the messy house.  I'm going to have a glass of wine, watch some mindless television, and hopefully get a good night's sleep.  There's time enough tomorrow to clean up and slip back into a more normal routine.

You too??

New Treasury

My Autumn Wreath is in a new treasury today: Summer is Leaving.  Even though this summer has been way hotter than I like it, I'm still sad to see it go.  Good thing Fall is so beautiful - I can look forward to lots of photo ops!  This lovely treasury has been created by Bombshell Bettie's Vintage, a shop full of cool vintage clothing.  Great name for a shop, but that too is a bit depressing - I remember wearing a lot of those clothes! Visit and take a stroll down memory lane ...

Two New Treasuries

My  recently listed Four Apples ACEO made it into two treasuries this week.

The first one is Natures Bounty Hearth and Harvest created by ShambleRamble. Stop by her shop - there's some gorgeous and unique jewelry there.  Stop by and take a look.

The second treasury is Take Me on a Hay Ride, Please!  That's a cute theme!  It was created by
Linkeldesigns.  A mother-daughter combo is creating some very lovely jewelry.  Pop over and take a look.

Pushing the seasons

One of my minor gripes (there's certainly bigger things that bug me) is the way the retail stores push the seasons. You know what I mean - every holiday or season is on display months ahead of time.  Autumn and Thanksgiving supplies have been on the shelves since - July? - right after they put away the Red-White-Blue for Independence Day, probably.  As a small shop owner for awhile many years ago, I can somewhat sympathize. We did the same thing - since we were going to go through so much work to clear/move the old stuff, might as well kill two birds with one stone and put up the new stuff right away.  Otherwise, everything looked too bare.  Even with that said, however, I still don't care for the practice.

Where's all this come from? My etsy shop, of course. I am just now working on 2011 calendars while everyone else already has theirs out there. I really have a hard time thinking so far ahead. Now everyone is already pushing Fall items.  I know when I'm fighting a losing battle, so today I posted these three ACEOs.  They happen to be three of my favorite photos, so that eases my pain a little!

They are also available as larger matted photos. Just contact me for a custom listing.

New Treasury

My beachy wreath made it into a treasury:

The treasury is titled Tomorrow to the Beach - sounds like a good idea to me!  The treasury was created by Fleeting Stillness.  Great name for a shop and you'll find stunning stained glass work there.  Enjoy!

Make me laugh … make me laugh

I’m slowly, oh so slowly climbing out of my computer hell, but it’s so frustrating that I still alternately scream and cry! I have 2-3 projects going that have a time limit so there’s pressure-pressure. But everything on my new computer is so new and different that each little step I take requires me to check “help” or “support” and a lot of clicking to figure out how to do it. (Going from Photoshop 2 to 5 is killing me!)  It’s not that I don’t want to learn – I absolutely love the SPEED I have now and there’s some features available to me now that will be fantastic. But getting there is so painful that I desperately need some laughs. And here’s two blogs that help me start my day with a few LOLs, sometimes ROFLMAOs!

The first is Cake Wrecks. Who would have thought that a blog about such an obscure subject would turn into such a phenomenon? Here’s how they describe it:

“A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.”

Even funnier than the cakes are the comments that come from Jen and John, the couple who created this site, which has spawned a book, cake wreck tours and a devoted following. On the other end of the spectrum and interspersed with the disasters are some absolutely stunning cakes created by some fantastic baker/artists. Take a look. You’ll laugh at the wrecks and marvel at the gorgeous cakes.

The next blog just might be my all-time favorite: The Pioneer Woman. Did you just flash on “Little House on the Prairie?” Trust me – Ree and Marlboro Man are SO not Ma and Pa Ingalls!

“My Name Is Ree I'm a desperate housewife. I live in the country. I channel Lucille Ball, Vivien Leigh, and Ethel Merman. Welcome to my frontier!”

The blog is an eclectic mix – cooking, photography, home and garden, homeschooling, etc. And then there’s the ongoing adventures in “Black Heels to Tractor Wheels” – the story of how this city lawyer ended up on a ranch in Oklahoma with a cowboy and is living happily and hilariously ever after. (Her story has been optioned by a big shot movie studio, so get over to visit so you can say “I knew her when” when the movie blockbuster comes out.)

She’s incredibly talented, impossibly successful, and – best of all - She. Is. Very. Funny!

Enough. You must must visit the site and experience it for yourself.  Fair warning – allow enough time to browse because you will be captivated! And then stop back here and let me know what you think.

Thanks for your patience with my computer issues. I hope to be back to normal soon!

New Treasury

Now this artist has a unique idea for creating treasuries - she's going through the entire alphabet!  Here I am in "F is for" - my "fire" fits right in!  The treasury was created by hiyapapaya , an eclectic shop of photography and other unique items.  Stop by her shop and her treasury. From there you can see Treasuries A-E too!

New Treasury

I think perhaps the heat is getting to everyone.  Check out this new "Wishful Winter" treasury that includes my Sky Blue Wreath. No matter how warm it gets I'm still not ready for winter, but I must admit this is a lovely treasury! It was created by Skylight Creations, a shop filled with unqiue creations, most of them made from vintage scrap fabric. Sweet!  Take a look.  And try to stay cool.

Drama Queen Today

OK, so I'm being a bit dramatic, but I'm still in computer hell. Thankfully, I think I see a light somewhere above so with any luck I'll return to earth after this weekend.

I'm taking a break today to get outside - we actually have a very pleasant day today.  Not so hot, not so humid. Sounds like we get a break, but only for the weekend. Next week it's back to ... hotter than hell.  I sure do have hell on my mind these days, don't I??

Hope you're enjoying your weekend.

Computer Madness!

I apologize for my sporadic posts here. I am in computer hell, between an old computer that died again and a new computer that is sick (yes, a new computer) and I'm waiting for the manufacturer's tech to arrive with a new part - I know not what part. This for a computer I have owned for exactly 10 days!  In the meantime, I'm unable to access a few critical programs like Photoshop, and it won't even let me access my own photos on an external drive. So I can't even post any pretty pictures.

I really hate not being in control.  You too?? I will not name the brand yet ... I'm giving them a chance to make it all right.  In the meantime, bear with me ....
