NaPali Coast and our final day

Thursday, 5/13:

Today was our final big adventure in Kauai: a Sunset Dinner Cruise to the NaPali Coast with Captain Andy's tours. Here's how http://www.gohawaii.com/ describes NaPali:

Kauai’s famous coastline is truly majestic, featuring emerald green pinnacles towering along the shoreline for 17-miles. Located on the North Shore of Kauai, the Napali Coast features panoramic views of the vast Pacific Ocean, velvet green cliffs and cascading waterfalls plummeting into deep, narrow valleys. The rugged terrain appears much as it did centuries ago when Hawaiian settlements flourished in these valleys existing only on the food they could grow and the fish they could catch.

That's not just hyperbole.  The NaPali Coast really is majestic and breathtaking! We started with a quick briefing from our Captain about our catamaran cruise and off we sailed.

I'm not sure about Captain Quinto's "hands off" policy while helming the catamaran  ...

He did manage to find a school of dolphins for us to play with ...

I have to say my sister and I really appreciated the attentiveness of the crew, ESPECIALLY Tony ... so very nice to look at ...

But here's what we  really came to see ... the magnificent NaPali Coast ...

This waterfall starts at the top of the cliffs, 40 feet in the air, and ends in this cave  ...

This beach and cave are a Harrison Ford favorite; he has used it for several films.  And Pirates of the Caribbean will be filming here in a few weeks...

After arriving at the tip of the NaPali, it was time to coast, have a few "sneaky tikis" and a buffet dinner. We then headed back as the sun sank into the West.

This cruise was the perfect ending to my time in Hawaii. Tomorrow I head home. Final thoughts in my next post.

  1. I am so glad you got to fit in this cruise on your Kauai vacation! It looks so wonderfully beautiful!

I just loved reading your blogs day-by-day events. It was so neat to see what you were up to each and every day. I am sure your vacation seemed much too short, but you will just have to come back again one day.

Hope you had a safe trip back home and get well rested. We are still enjoying your fabulous milk chocolate syrup over our ice cream!!
