Sunday in the Park

"Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all."
- Stanley Horowitz

In Michigan, as in some other parts of the country, we didn't have much of a Summer and until now not much of an Autumn. (Is it too much to ask that we won't have much of a Winter??) We have set records for cold and rain so far this October.

Today, however, promised to be sunny and a bit warmer. So I ignored everything I had to do at home,  picked up my sister who has been cooped up because of some medical issues, and we drove to a local park - she to get some fresh air, I to look for some photo ops. We were joined by many with the same idea - photographers busy with their cameras, couples young and old walking hand in hand, boys on bikes, girls playing soccer, everyone letting go and breathing deeply on "this most amazing day."  All I could think is, THIS is what's wonderful about Michigan.  Enjoy these images of an almost perfect autumn day in southeast Michigan.

"Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still and watch the leaves turn."

Elizabeth Lawrence

And here's why we were all there ....

“Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile.”
William Cullen Bryant

What a wonderful day!
